Finally starting to feel like I'm not on vacation.

If you don’t care to hear about my weekend then I would advise you to stop reading immediately.

I had very low expectations for this weekend seeing as everyone in my group except one person went to Sevilla (I would have gone, but will be going later on). I was very surprised at what a good weekend it turned out to be. First of all, I found another girl who is a Christian and doesn’t want to drink her time away in Cádiz! (yay!) We both tried out a church last week but it ended up being Penacostal and a little too much for us, so last weekend we tried out another church- it was a success. First of all they had young people! Woo! Second of all, the young people spoke like 5,000 different language including English. Yahoo! (But for the record we spoke Spanish so we could practice. There were two siblings from Romania that spoke Romanian, Spanish, and English, another Romanian, and some Gaditanos (what we call the native Cádiz). The church service went for 3 hours, my theory for the length is because THERE IS NOTHING ELSE TO DO ON A SUNDAY IN CADIZ. (ugh.) Later that night my friend and I went back to the church to hang out- it reminded me of home because we jammed to some worship songs and played ping-pong (where we met one the Romanians friend from Jordan who speaks Arabic, Romanian, and English). Later we got a ride home (alright!) and our nice new Brazilian friend (I can practice my Portuguese!) showed us her flat she shares with a Christian guy who is from Ireland. I think I met a person from almost every part of world that day (not to mention, my friend from school is from Belarus and speaks Russian, English, and Spanish)- we did a lot of translating that night. Needless to say, I was so caught off guard by all of the greatness that happened. (In a good way.)

None of this greatness was by any means any of my doing, I just was blessed enough to stumble upon it, or perhaps I was blessed enough for God to throw it in my face. Either way, I know I’m being taken care of here (God is good, even when you don’t deserve it).

Other highlights:

I went Salsa dancing on Thursday night (going again next week, and probably every week for the rest of my time here).

I played volleyball on the beach (another thing I will probably be doing as much as possible).

I bought masks for Carnaval!

I discovered the amazingness that is a Spanish Bazaar (think a really really cramped dollar store but everything is not a dollar- and it’s way better…).

I might have found my new favorite place, a tea/hookah/crepe café- yes!

Not-so-highlights:

My camera may or may not be dying… it’s hard to tell.

Still no good coffee to be had, so I’m giving up and turning to tea.

I hope everyone is doing well and finding blessings throughout the day.

(If you’re reading this, there’s a good chance I miss you. A lot.)
