Rock.

On Saturday a group of us went to Gibraltar for the day. We started off the trip with a 3 hour bus ride from Cádiz with pretty much the whole thing to ourselves. We were slightly alarmed when we saw miles and miles of motorhomes headed the other direction and literally no one behind (“what if everyone is evacuating?!”). The view driving from the top of the mountain down into Gibraltar was absolutely gorgeous and I wish pictures could justify it.

When we got there British customs officials “checked” our passports and we were off into the land of pounds and accents. A “tour company” offered us a really “good deal” on a tour of the Rock and the monkeys, etc for only 20pounds (CAN YOU SENSE MY SARCACISM?). Everyone was a go for that idea except me and one other guy, so we gave a big “psssshhhh” and started hiking up the rock- and that was the best decision I’ve pretty much ever made in my life. We paid 1euro to get into the park (which we later found out wasn’t even needed) and walked up endless roads wrapping around the rock. We finally stumbled upon some pretty gnarly stairs that almost gave both of us a collasped lung- but the top was completely 100% worth it. There were monkeys, a view of both sides of the sea, and a look at Africa… I took a million pictures but none can actually justify that view and the feeling at the top. As we headed down the stairs (which were so high my knees were actually shaking) the only thing I could think was “I wish my family were here, they would love this.”
